PHILIPSBURG–The Police Force held a farewell ceremony for the first team of Dutch colleagues at the Philipsburg police station on Thursday morning. This first team, most of whom were stationed on the island for four months since the passing of major Hurricane Irma, participated in the ceremony by marching and saluting local officers.
A second team from the Netherlands Police who will replace the departing officers has already arrived on the island and will be sworn in early this weekend.
Words of gratitude and encouragement were expressed by Chief of Police Carl John and Dutch commander John van de Hering.
As a sign of cementing the brotherhood of the two forces, there was a symbolic exchange of uniforms.
