PHILIPSBURG–Police received a call from the local Coast Guard at 9:00am Thursday about an incident that took place onboard a vessel anchored in Simpson Bay Lagoon and left one person seriously injured.
Acting police spokesman Inspector Rehensly Henson said on Friday that police had boarded the vessel and detectives had found traces of blood and other signs indicating that violence was used throughout the vessel, along with a weapon.
The captain E.K.A.B. had been found earlier by Coast Guard personnel, badly beaten, and was transported to St. Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. The victim was in no condition to give a statement to officers at that time.
This investigation is ongoing, according to Henson.
