WILLEMSTAD – The Federashon Otrabanda (FO), Otrabanda Federation, invited the new coalition parties, PAR, MAN and PIN to an informative and interactive tour of the eight neighborhoods that are part of the Otrabanda side of Willemstad last Saturday.

Each neighborhood committee had the opportunity to present the difficulties to the new government which will take oath today.

Four points that were highlighted are:

Crime: Residents of the various neighborhoods don’t feel secure because of the increase in criminal activities in their areas. The committee indicated that especially the elderly choose to lock their doors in the later afternoon hours as a preventive measure.

Cleanliness: During their tour, PAR noted that trash was deliberately deposited in various areas. A very unhygienic situation.

Social-economic problems: The committees representing Kortijn and Ser’i Domi indicated that they are experiencing difficulties with social problems like poverty, isolation of the elderly and school dropouts.

Infrastructure: It is already known that several houses in Otrabanda are in bad shape and the Otrabanda Federation is asking the new government for their attention on this issue.

The PAR faction in Parliament recognizes the efforts of the federation and all the affiliated organizations that are working hard to bring Otrabanda to a high level of development.

Where it is necessary, the new government together with Parliament will have to adopt or adapt laws to help these efforts reach their concrete goals, both on the short and long term.

The PAR faction will give content to the petitions made by the Otrabanda Federation.
