WILLEMSTAD – During their annual press conference, Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) presented the progress of the projects at the airport and also the future plans.

According to the CEO, Ralph Blanchard, the airport is a national asset of the island that has been entrusted to CAP. “It is important that we further develop and improve the airport. This is not only good for the government, but also for the people of Curaçao,’ said Blanchard.

CAP is working on several projects simultaneously. The immigration hall has been recently renovated. The are more commercial activities and the floors of the departure, immigration and check-in hall have all been tiled. This to improve the passenger’s experience and infrastructure. It also gives the airport a look and feel of an international airport.

E-gatesCAP is also working on other improvements which are already known. One of the complaints passengers had was the long line at the immigration hall. To solve this CAP has completely remodeled the hall and is currently installingImmigration hall the so called E-gates. These will be operational in April this year. According to the CAP management, this will significantly reduce the long lines in the immigration hall. Holders of American and European passports can go through these E-gates in matter of seconds per person.

The new arrival hall will be ready in June this year. This will allow for those waiting for their passenger to have a more comfortable experience while waiting.

The CEO indicated that CAP is working very well with the government and other partners in the airline industry is going very well. “The airport is doing very well, as shown in the latest figures. We are already seeing an increase in the number of passengers compared to 2015.”

AirportNevertheless, CAP wants to attract more visitors from markets such as Germany. The difference between Curaçao and for example Aruba and Sint Maarten is that there is still room for growth. Between the three, Curaçao is number three in terms of inbound passengers, flights and airplane seats. But Aruba and Sint Maarten are more developed in that area. They have more years of experience. Curaçao is now on the rise and the future looks good.
