Op 24 april 2014 vanaf 9.00 uur zal aan het Gerecht in eerste aanleg te Philipsburg (Sint Maarten) het onderzoek met de naam “Piranha” worden voorgelegd. Dit onderzoek heeft betrekking op mogelijke frauduleuze handelingen waarbij het Land Sint Maarten voor ruim 235.000 gulden zou zijn opgelicht. De landsrecherche heeft het onderzoek verricht en op 23 juni 2013 afgerond.

Gedagvaard voor de zitting is de man R.A.G., die ervan wordt verdacht dat zijn bedrijf Global Advisory Services N.V. ten onrechte facturen ter hoogte van genoemd bedrag heeft ingediend.
Daarnaast is oud-minister van Financiën H.S. gedagvaard.
Hij zou het mogelijk hebben gemaakt dat R.A.G. zich kon verrijken met geld uit de staatskas.
De zitting van 24 april 2014 betreft een zogenaamde regiezitting, waarbij gesproken wordt over eventueel aanvullende onderzoekswensen totdat de zaak inhoudelijk behandeld zal gaan worden. Het Openbaar Ministerie verwacht een inhoudelijke behandeling aan het eind van dit jaar.
