The Prosecutor’s Office would like to state that on Saturday the 5th of december there has been close contact between the Prosecutor, the Harbor, the Maritime Affairs departement and the Coast guard about the incident involving waste water pumped out of a cruise ship at the Harbor. According to these parties involved it was questionable whether the incident was a punishable act under the current national law of Sint Maarten. Nevertheless, the Prosecutor’s Office deems it necessairy to investigate further and continue the talks with these parties. It will therefore initate a follow up meeting as soon as possible.
