WILLEMSTAD – The Oryx Group, a company that has entered into an agreement with Refineria di Kòrsou to manage the storage capacity in Bullenbaai and the refinery in Emmastad, has been named in connection with the trade of so-called dirty fuels.

A publication on the website ‘Public Eye’ lists several companies that trade in commodities and systematically exploit weak regulations in African countries to sell dirty fuels, maximizing their profits. These companies blend the products and then market them through a network of owned or controlled gas stations.

Among the companies mentioned are Vitol, Trafigura, Addax, and Oryx Group. ‘Public Eye’ is an organization that has conducted research for over 50 years on the impact of Swiss-based companies on the poorest countries in the world. The organization claims that the listed companies exploit inadequate legislation in African countries to sell high-sulfur fuels, which have long been banned in Europe.

When the agreement between RdK and Oryx Midstream Private Ltd (Oryx Midstream) was signed, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas stated that Oryx Midstream specifically targets the lucrative market of blending refined petroleum products to produce gas oil, motor oil, and diesel of various qualities and specifications for different applications.
