Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Grandeur of the Seas glided into Port St. Maarten this morning. This is the first cruise ship to bring more than 1,000 passengers to the country post-Hurricane Irma.
Stores were open in town with shopkeepers and clerks alike eagerly awaiting customers, as were taxi drivers and others catering to cruisers. In Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise and Cargo Facilities, passengers were welcome by live music and other activities. In photo: Cruisers head into Philipsburg after exiting a water taxi at Captain Hodge Wharf.

Capaciteit van dit oude schip uit 1992 is 2442 passagiers en rond 700 bemanningsleden. Bezetting is dus minder dan de helft, met 1000 passagiers, dat is niet bemoedigend.
