The caretaker Council of Ministers, now headed by Prime Minister Rafael “Raffie” Boasman, met with Dutch State Secretary Raymond Knops on Monday to discuss steps needed to actualise the reconstruction phase following Hurricane Irma.
Emphasis will be placed on short-term projects that will have immediate impact on the community.
The World Bank is expected to manage all project funding requests related to the 550 million euros from the Dutch Government, to ensure accountability and transparency, according to the Dutch Government. “Both parties agreed that the meeting was constructive and set a basis for change in the cooperation between St. Maarten and the Netherlands,” cited a press statement from the Council of Ministers.
