WILLEMSTAD – Government entities will be scrutinized in the near future. In connection with the Curaçao Country Package and the Implementation Agenda, a Mobility Office and a Top Management Office will be established. In addition, two studies are in preparation.
The Mobility Office is being set up with the task of ensuring optimal staffing. The agency will also take action in the event of irregularities. For example, depending on the situation, measures will be taken if employees receive unjustified wages. The Top Management Office will be responsible for the implementation of the ‘Management Development policy’.
In addition to setting up the two offices, two studies are also being prepared. The benchmark study is being started in order to be able to implement austerity measures. A plan for this research will be developed this month.
The second study concerns a screening of government organizations. “Because the costs of the public sector must amount to ten percent of the gross domestic product, in line with the Caribbean average,” the Implementation Agenda describes. The screening includes an investigation into the legitimacy, effectiveness and efficiency of public share ownership.
