FRANKFURT – The German travel company Thomas Cook, parent company of the airline Condor, has bought the fly permit (AOC) from the bankrupt Airberlin. This allows Condor to secure valuable slots at German airports.
Airberlin was sold in parts after the bankruptcy. Both Lufthansa and EasyJet received aircraft and personnel. Also, subsidiary LGW went to Lufthansa, while NIKI was incorporated at the last moment by British Airways parent company.
The AOC of Air Berlin Aviation is now owned by Thomas Cook for a few million. The company expects to be able to offer additional holiday flights from various German airports.
In the course of this month, the inventory ofAairberlin will also be auctioned in order to return creditors part of their money.
