2017 11 17 – Brief Curacao Aan Guangdong Zhenrong Energy GZE by Black Lion on Scribd

WILLEMSTAD – The Multidisciplinary Project Team (MDPT), in charge of finding a strategic partner for the future of the oil refinery in Curaçao, laments the fact that once again a letter addressed to Guangdong Zhenrong Energy (GZE) was leaked to the media.

In a press release emitted by the office of the Prime Minister, Premier Eugene Rhuggenaath declares that the leaking of confidential documents is worrisome. “This shows a pattern that is alien to the professional manner both the Government and MDPT believe that this type of negotiations should be conducted,” said the Prime Minister in his press release.

Last week, the MDPT had sent a letter to GZE and Titan. Only the letter addressed to GZE was leaked. Besides the leaking of the preliminary versions of the Due Diligence and the report of the Government’s Accountants Bureau (SOAB), there were two letters from GZE addressed to the Prime Minister that have found their way to the media before even reaching its destination.

The Prime Minister hopes that this is not a well-orchestrated strategy to deliberately put Curaçao in a corner, because of not complying with the non-disclosure agreement. “It is even more worrisome that there are local cooperating with this,” said the Prime Minister. Rhuggenaath hopes that the Public Prosecution (OM) can launch, as soon as possible, an investigation into the leaking of this confidential information.

The Prime Minister also said that the leaking of MDPT’s letter does not change the fact that GZE has two weeks to present the requested information which will give clarity to the negotiations and open the way for both parties to continue talking about the future of the oil refinery.
