MAHO–Dutch-side police detained three men who identified themselves as Gendarmes on Monday evening after what some said was a fight at Sunset Beach Bar involving a security guard that led to a scuffle with the police officers.

The Dutch-side police were summoned to the scene of the fight and, according to reports reaching the press, another fight ensued between the police and the Gendarmes.Both sets of lawmen subsequently called for backup.

Several Gendarmerie vehicles were spotted in the area and reportedly there was a standoff between the two sides. Eventually, the French-side lawmen retreated and the three involved in the fight were detained for assault.

It is understood that one of the detained men is a high ranking official.
