WILLEMSTAD – The Coast Guard, in collaboration with the Curaçao Police Force, apprehended a number of undocumented individuals on land yesterday morning. The Coast Guard detected the suspicious boat in the early hours as it was heading towards Oostpunt (east point). Upon detecting the boat, the Maritime Operations Center of the Coast Guard dispatched a land patrol and the Coast Guard helicopter to the location.
The notification of a possible landing was also forwarded to the Curaçao Police Force. During the search, five undocumented individuals were arrested, and several weapons as well as two packages of suspected drugs were seized.
Yesterday afternoon, the Coast Guard had the Coast Guard helicopter and aircraft patrol the area in search of more individuals who may have landed, but this operation yielded no results.
