WILLEMSTAD – On Monday, January 23, Mr. Cees Ullersma and Mrs. Bianca Tjon Atsoi, on behalf of De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), paid a visit to the Governor of Curaçao, Her Excellency Lucille George-Wout.

This visit took place in response to the apologies offered by the president of De Nederlandsche Bank (Klaas Knot) on July 1, 2022, to all descendants of enslaved people in the Netherlands, Suriname, Curaçao, St Maarten, St Eustatius, Saba, Bonaire and Aruba, and the other announced measures. Mrs. Tjon Atsoi leads the project on the slavery past at DNB, Mr. As head of department, Ullersma is jointly responsible for DNB’s technical cooperation with sister institutions, including the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
