The Court of First Instance on has sentenced Thursday, December 14, 2016 F.F.C. (38) to the payment of NAf 2,197,16 en US$ 1,900 to one of his victims. And the payment of US$ 3,460 to another victim.
The victims had submitted a claim for damages suffered. On July 13, 2016 F.F.C. was sentenced by the Court of First Instance to 20 years in jail. He was found guilty of committing 9 armed robberies, 4 thefts with assault and battery, attempted manslaughter against one police officer, threatening two persons with a firearm of which one was a 14 year old boy, and illegal firearms possession.
The Prosecutor’s Office also submitted an order to recover proceed of crime against F.F.C. because of monies stolen during the robberies. The Court agreed to this request and sentenced F.F.C. to paying back US$ 15,668.94.
Orders to recover proceed of crime fit within the new policy of the Prosecutor’s Office and from now on the Prosecutor’s Office will be submitting more such claims. Crime does not pay.
