Combi Dock 1 arrived in Port Willemstad

WILLEMSTAD – Combi Dock 1 arrived in Port Willemstad last night around midnight. The semi-sub heavy lift cargo ship anchored in Schottegat Bay, where it started the process of ballasting and sinking.

In the morning, two barges were loaded onto the ship for transport. KTK’s tugs and CPO’s pilots made the whole operation possible through their skillful guidance and assistance. Schottegat Bay remained closed for maritime traffic during the process and opened back up around 3 p.m. Currently, Combi Dock 1 is letting the water back out, so that it will float again, then it will be moved to a buoy where a third barge will be lifted onto the ship’s deck with its own cranes.

Combi Dock 1 will remain there to secure its cargo and for inspection. On Nov. 28, 2014, the cargo ship will shift to the Megapier until its departure.
