CC | Attention to deceived online gamblers

WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Finance recently met with Mrs. Nardy Cramm, the director of the Foundation for the Protection of the Interest of Duped Online Gamblers (SBGOK), and Mr. Roel Bijkerk (lawyer). The foundation stands up for gamers/gamblers who are deceived in one way or another by the online casinos licensed in Curaçao.

As is well known, Minister Silvania is currently working on, among other things, the modernization of the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK). During this process, the Ministry of Finance works closely with the various stakeholders in the sector. Given their player-oriented approach, the SBGOK can certainly make a valuable contribution in this regard.

After a short introduction, the responsibilities of the online gaming sector when it comes to compliance, responsible gaming, and supervision were discussed. An important point raised by SGBOK during the meeting is the payout of the players. It still happens (too) often that players are not paid out by operators and/or online casinos. This point of attention will certainly be taken up by the minister.

In the future, just like with the other stakeholders, the minister will regularly meet with the SGBOK to gain more insight into safeguarding the safety of players in the online gaming sector.
