De nieuwe voorzitter van het managementteam van Insel Air, Gilles Filiatreault, wil resoluut optreden om het verlies van 1,5 miljoen dollar, dat de maatschappij op dit moment lijdt per maand, te stoppen.
Dit schrijft het Antilliaans Dagblad. Ook vraagt Filiatreault zich af of Insel Air wel op Aruba moet blijven. Juni Sluis is gisteravond aangesteld als Deputy Chief Executive Officer Flight Operations and Technical. Hij gaat vandaag naar Aruba om te controleren wat er nog moet gebeuren om de vier MD-vliegtuigen, die al bijna twee weken om veiligheidsredenen aan de grond staan, vrijgegeven te krijgen.
Op dit moment is er een twee-weken actieplan opgesteld. Met de inzet van huurvliegtuigen van andere luchtvaartmaatschappijen moet Insel Air langzaamaan weer op tijd kunnen vliegen. Enkele van de 22 bestemmingen zullen tijdelijk worden geschrapt om de kosten te drukken.
Daarnaast benadrukt Filiatreault dat er qua veiligheid niet mis is met de toestellen van de maatschappij.

I think, but maybe it ’s just me thinking stupid again, that this whole “grounding” thing has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that the Aruba Insel employees did not succeed in court ( read: LOST!!!!) to force Insel Air to IMMIDIATELY pay up the pension-fund moneys owed!!!!!!!!! The judge in question ruled that forcing Insel to pay up no further questions asked, would not benefit the company at this particular moment in time, and would bankrupt Insel, puting the jobs of ALL Insel employees, and not just the Aruba ones in jeopardy.
