WILLEMSTAD – Drug trafficker Piet W. was not released after all. The court lifted W.’s pre-trial detention on March 28, but before he was released, he was re-arrested by the Public Prosecution Service. This time on suspicion of money laundering in 2018.
The case against the Surinamese was initially based only on the smuggling of two batches of cocaine and two murders. Former professional football player Kelvin Maynard and Curaçaoan Genciel Genna Feller are said to have stolen one of those batches of cocaine. In revenge, Maynard was liquidated in Amsterdam in 2019 and Feller in Curaçao in 2019.
The Surinamese was going to be released at the end of March because at that time there was insufficient evidence in the case of two liquidations.
