WILLEMSTAD – Tragedy struck at Playa Kalki on Westpunt when a 44-year-old American tourist drowned on Thursday. Bystanders swimming nearby noticed that the woman had stopped showing signs of movement.
The Curaçao Police Force confirmed the incident.
Beachgoers acted quickly and pulled the woman out of the water, starting CPR immediately. Emergency services were contacted, but sadly, despite their best efforts, the woman passed away at the scene.
The police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. Currently, no further information is available regarding the circumstances surrounding the woman’s drowning.
