Curaçao importeert dit jaar 19 containers met vuurwerk. Het totale aantal dat nu bij het Kruithuis in Brievengat staat opgeslagen is 33. In elke container zit 20 duizend kilo.
Er is dit jaar dus ruim 600 ton vuurwerk beschikbaar om te worden afgeschoten. Besloten is om in verband met de veiligheid het vuurwerk in de containers te laten en rondom hoge heuvels met zand te plaatsen. In 2012 ontplofte het voormalige Kruithuis op het industrieterrein van Seru Lora.
