WILLEMSTAD – For the fifth year in a row Evento Curaçao organizes Pietermaai Proeft. On June 22 and 23, the new location, the Marichi area, opposite Pietermaai Parking & Mall, in Pietermaai District will be transformed into a festival site for the two-day culinary event.
“Up to now, it has been popular every year, one of the reasons for the new and larger location,” says Marijke Hoos of Evento Curaçao. Not only the location has been changed, this year the festival also takes place for the first time on Friday and Saturday (instead of Saturday and Sunday). “Previously we chose the Sunday because some (smaller) restaurants had to close their doors, especially for the event. In many cases, this is no longer the case and we had the opportunity to organize it on the popular Friday evening and Saturday evening” says Hoos.
At Pietermaai Tasting only restaurants that are located in the Pietermaai District participate, namely: BijBlauw, La Cantina del Patron, Deja Vu, The Pen by Avila, Blessing Curaçao, Scuba Lodge & Ocean Suites, Ginger, Fishalicious, Curasauce, Eetbar op = op, Chez Ray and The Happy BBQ Place. On Friday 22 and Saturday 23, they present the best of their menu by serving small mini dishes. “It is an accessible and approachable way to get acquainted with the various kitchens in the neighborhood,” says Hoos. Dishes are already available from 4 guilders. The wines are served by the permanent cooperation partner and one of our main sponsors of the Wijnhandel Servir Frais event and the Domaines Baron de Rothschild wine house. The second main sponsor Johnnie Walker provides the tastiest cocktails in the main bar at Pietermaai Proeft 2018.
Tickets cost 27.50 guilders per day and are available at Bruna, Miles Jazz Café, Wijnhandel Servir Frais, Mensing’s Caminada and 24 uur uit de Muur and online via the website. The organization says that there is enough also the possibility to pay with a bank card during the event.
